Riverside Preserve

In 2019, Charles “Chuck” McDonald donated 192 acres to Fauquier County and just a year later, Riverside Preserve opened to the public. The Preserve borders the Rappahannock River and provides miles of nature trails. In 2021, a kayak-canoe launch was completed that connects river-goers to take-out locations in Remington and Kelly’s Ford. Future plans include additional trails and a nature education center in a restored barn in the park.

My hope is that Riverside Preserve will not only be a place of recreation and tranquility, but also an incubator of sorts for developing the next generation of nature lovers who will be enthusiastic in taking up the torch of thoughtful protection of our environment in the future. It's a beautiful piece of property with a great variety of landscapes and habitats. Enjoy!" - Chuck McDonald
